About Heathen Records
Heathen Records is an independent, family-run online vinyl record store based in Blackheath, in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. We bring together Australian music, international releases and collectable pressings for people who love buying, playing and discovering records.
Our Story
Heathen Records grew out of founder Mick Wells’ own record collection. During the COVID shutdowns, Mick began selling vinyl when his offshore work in the oil and gas industry dried up. What started as a way to make ends meet became the foundation for a record store.
After returning to offshore work, Mick and his partner Steph were expecting their first child. Building Heathen Records offered a way to work closer to home while doing something he cared about. Mick developed the website during evenings offshore, with Steph helping turn the idea into a family business.
Records Worth Discovering
Our catalogue spans Australian and international artists, with a particular interest in alternative, indie, punk, metal and hip hop. Alongside new releases and classic albums, we stock reissues, limited editions, coloured vinyl and collectable pressings.
Whether you are buying your first LP, replacing a well-loved favourite or searching for a particular edition, we want to make finding your next record straightforward.
- New Vinyl Arrivals – explore recent releases, reissues and the latest additions to our catalogue.
- Australian Music – discover homegrown artists, established favourites and Australian albums on vinyl.
Care for the Record and the Customer
Careful packing and clear communication are central to how we work. We know that the sleeve, artwork and condition matter alongside the music, so getting your order safely to your door deserves attention.
If you have a question about a pressing, an order or a record you are trying to find, get in touch with our team. You can also read our shipping policy and find our returns information through the customer service links on the website.
More Than a Catalogue
We also share the stories behind the music. Our On the Record blog explores artists, albums and notable releases, while For Vinyl Lovers offers practical reading for collecting, caring for and enjoying vinyl.
Heathen Records was featured in The Music’s record store profile series in June 2025, sharing the story behind our business.
