Michael Franti and Spearhead – Work Hard & Be Nice (Vinyl 2LP)

Work Hard & Be Nice is the 2020 studio album from Michael Franti & Spearhead, bringing together the band's signature mix of reggae, soul, pop, funk and socially conscious songwriting. Written and recorded across Nashville, San Francisco and Los Angeles, the album centres on optimism, connection and the small actions that can make a positive difference in everyday life.

The 17-track album features I Got You, Sun and Moon, Breaking Down the Door and the title track Work Hard and Be Nice, alongside favourites including The Friends Song, Start Small Think Big and I'm On Your Side. Franti's uplifting songwriting is paired with an energetic blend of reggae rhythms, soulful melodies and accessible pop hooks.

Work Hard & Be Nice was produced by Michael Franti alongside Chris Stevens, Tim Myers, Nathan Chapman and Sean McConnell, with mastering by Chris Gehringer at Sterling Sound. Its themes of resilience, community and human connection became particularly resonant around the album's 2020 release.
