Pearl Jam – Ten (Remastered Vinyl LP)

Released in August 1991, Ten introduced Pearl Jam as one of the defining bands of the Seattle alternative-rock movement. Its combination of muscular guitar riffs, expansive solos and Eddie Vedder's emotionally charged vocals gave the group a distinctive sound from the beginning. Although often grouped under the grunge label, the album draws just as strongly on classic hard rock, with a sense of scale and melody that helped it reach a huge audience.

Recorded at London Bridge Studio with producer Rick Parashar, the album features Vedder alongside guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready, bassist Jeff Ament and drummer Dave Krusen. The twin-guitar interplay is a major part of its identity: Gossard's riffs provide a sturdy foundation while McCready's expressive lead playing adds drama and release. Vedder's voice gives the songs a personal urgency, even when their arrangements become enormous.

Once opens with an intense, driving performance, while Even Flow rides one of the band's most recognisable riffs. Alive combines a searching vocal with a celebrated McCready guitar solo. The explosive Why Go leads into Black, a slow-building portrait of heartbreak, and Jeremy, whose dark narrative and soaring chorus made it one of the era's defining songs.

Side B begins with the atmospheric Oceans before Porch returns to the band's live-wire rock energy. Garden balances mystery with an expansive chorus, Deep pushes into heavier territory, and Release closes the album with a moving, open-ended reflection. This 2017 remastered black vinyl LP reissue, barcode 889853768714, contains the original eleven-track album and captures the force of Pearl Jam's debut.
