Michael Jackson - Thriller (Gatefold Vinyl LP)

Thriller is the legendary sixth studio album by Michael Jackson, originally released on 30 November 1982. Produced by Quincy Jones, it became the best-selling album of all time and transformed popular music with its extraordinary combination of pop, funk, soul, R&B and rock. Featuring timeless classics including Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' and Human Nature, the album remains one of the most influential recordings in music history.

Following the success of Off the Wall, Jackson reunited with Quincy Jones to create an album combining sophisticated studio production, unforgettable melodies and extraordinary vocal performances. Working with exceptional musicians and songwriters, Jackson developed a sound that crossed musical boundaries and established new standards for mainstream pop recording.

The album opens with Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', an energetic dancefloor anthem driven by infectious percussion and layered vocals. Baby Be Mine showcases Jackson's smooth vocal delivery, while The Girl Is Mine, featuring Paul McCartney, offers a relaxed pop duet. The title track Thriller combines dramatic storytelling, atmospheric production and an unforgettable spoken-word performance by Vincent Price.

Side B opens with Beat It, blending rock and pop with an electrifying guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen. Billie Jean follows with its instantly recognisable bassline, precise rhythms and compelling storytelling. The beautifully atmospheric Human Nature highlights Jackson's expressive vocals, while P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) delivers irresistible funk grooves. The album closes with the soulful ballad The Lady in My Life.

Thriller produced seven US Top 10 singles and won a record-breaking eight Grammy Awards in 1984, including Album of the Year. Its groundbreaking music videos, iconic choreography and extraordinary commercial success helped reshape popular culture, while its influence continues across pop, R&B and dance music.
