AC/DC - High Voltage (Remastered 180g Vinyl LP)

High Voltage introduced AC/DC to international audiences in 1976, but it is not the same record as the band's original Australian album of that name. This nine-track international release draws from their first two Australian LPs, High Voltage and T.N.T., bringing together the fierce energy of the Bon Scott era. Scott's irreverent vocals, Angus Young's cutting guitar and the group's rock-solid rhythm section made this a distinctive introduction to Australian hard rock.

The album opens with It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll), an account of life on the road made unforgettable by its bagpipes. Rock 'n' Roll Singer is a swaggering declaration of ambition, while The Jack slows things down for a bluesy performance. Live Wire builds from a tense introduction into a powerful, driving riff.

Side B starts with the chant and crunch of T.N.T., one of AC/DC's defining early anthems. Can I Sit Next to You Girl captures the group's playful rock-and-roll roots, while Little Lover and She's Got Balls lean into the blues. The closing High Voltage is an explosive statement of the band's sound and attitude.

Produced during the band's formative period with Harry Vanda and George Young, these recordings have the immediacy of a hard-working live band. Rather than ornate studio arrangements, they rely on tight grooves, crisp guitar interplay and Scott's magnetic presence. It's the sound of AC/DC developing the formula that would carry them around the world.
