Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard And Soft (Anniversary Edition Blue & Orange Splatter Vinyl LP)

Released in 2024, Hit Me Hard and Soft is Billie Eilish's third studio album, created with her brother and long-time collaborator FINNEAS. Rather than treating each track as a separate pop statement, the record unfolds as a connected emotional journey. Its ten songs move between desire, uncertainty, identity and heartbreak, shifting from hushed intimacy to sudden bursts of rhythm and intensity.

FINNEAS' production gives Eilish's voice space, surrounding her close-miked delivery with fluid basslines, delicate synthesisers and carefully controlled dynamic changes. SKINNY opens with a vulnerable reflection on self-image, LUNCH brings a playful pulse, and CHIHIRO stretches into an immersive electronic groove. BIRDS OF A FEATHER pairs a luminous melody with intense devotion, while WILDFLOWER explores guilt and emotional complexity.

THE GREATEST builds towards a cathartic climax. On the second side, L'AMOUR DE MA VIE changes direction dramatically, THE DINER creates a tense atmosphere, and BITTERSUITE and BLUE draw recurring musical ideas together. This anniversary edition blue-and-orange splatter vinyl LP, barcode 602478161476, features special mirror-foil artwork and a poster with previously unseen photographs. The complete ten-track sequence is below.

One of the record's most striking features is how songs change shape while they are playing. CHIHIRO stretches its hypnotic groove over an unusually expansive arrangement, while THE GREATEST holds back its full emotional force until the music erupts. These shifts feel carefully planned rather than abrupt: small melodic ideas return in altered forms, giving the album continuity even when the production moves between genres. Eilish's close, often whispered delivery makes the larger moments feel all the more powerful.

The second half is particularly rewarding as a complete sequence. L'AMOUR DE MA VIE pivots from a conversational song into electronic release, while THE DINER uses a theatrical perspective to explore obsession and the loss of privacy. BITTERSUITE creates an unsettled bridge into BLUE, whose layered conclusion revisits feelings heard earlier in the album. The anniversary pressing adds a visually distinctive format to a record designed for immersive, uninterrupted listening; the special sleeve and poster distinguish this edition from the standard release.
