Billy Joel – The Stranger (180g Vinyl LP)

Released in 1977, The Stranger established Billy Joel as a major songwriter by combining sharply observed characters with memorable piano-led melodies. Produced by Phil Ramone, the album moves confidently between rock, pop and balladry, giving its stories room to develop without losing their immediacy.

Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) opens with a portrait of working-class ambition, while Scenes from an Italian Restaurant unfolds as an ambitious, multi-part story. Just the Way You Are offers a warm romantic ballad, and Vienna reflects on the pressure to hurry through life. Only the Good Die Young brings a livelier rhythm, while She's Always a Woman finds intimacy in a restrained arrangement.

The album's enduring appeal comes from its balance of vivid storytelling, melodic craft and contrasting moods. This 180g vinyl LP edition presents the original nine-song sequence across two sides.
