Cake - Pressure Chief (Vinyl LP)

Pressure Chief is the fifth studio album from American alternative rock band Cake, originally released in 2004. Combining the band's unmistakable mix of alternative rock, funk, new wave and dry humour, the album pairs John McCrea's distinctive vocals with sharp guitar lines, keyboards, trumpet and the economical rhythms that have defined Cake's sound since the 1990s.

The 11-track album features No Phone and Carbon Monoxide, alongside fan favourites including Wheels, Take It All Away and End Of The Movie. The record also includes Cake's distinctive interpretation of Bread's The Guitar Man, plus the closing track Tougher Than It Is.

Produced by Cake themselves and recorded in a converted house in Sacramento, Pressure Chief followed 2001's Comfort Eagle. Its stripped-back production, inventive arrangements and blend of guitars with electronic textures make it one of the more distinctive entries in the band's catalogue while retaining Cake's instantly recognisable musical personality.

This 2024 remastered vinyl reissue presents the complete original 11-track album on 180g heavyweight black vinyl.
