Cat Stevens – Catch Bull At Four (50th Anniversary Remastered Vinyl LP)

Catch Bull At Four is Cat Stevens' acclaimed 1972 album, following the breakthrough success of Tea For The Tillerman and Teaser And The Firecat. Combining introspective folk songwriting with a broader, more adventurous musical palette, the album became one of Stevens' biggest commercial successes while continuing his exploration of spirituality, relationships and personal growth.

The ten-track album opens with Sitting and includes Can't Keep It In, The Boy With A Moon And Star On His Head, Silent Sunlight and 18th Avenue (Kansas City Nightmare). Elsewhere, songs such as Freezing Steel, O' Caritas and the closing Ruins showcase the increasingly ambitious arrangements that distinguished the record from Stevens' earlier work.

The album's title was inspired by the Ten Bulls of Zen Buddhism, reflecting the spiritual themes and search for understanding running through Stevens' songwriting at the time. Produced primarily by longtime collaborator Paul Samwell-Smith, the record features Stevens alongside musicians including Alun Davies, Gerry Conway, Alan James and Jean Roussel.

This 50th Anniversary Edition was newly remastered from the original stereo production tapes at 24-bit/96kHz by Mazen Murad. The complete ten-track album is pressed on 180g black vinyl and housed in a gatefold jacket featuring newly restored artwork.
