Chris Cornell – Songbook (Ltd. Red Vinyl) Vinyl Record

Songbook presents Chris Cornell’s songwriting in stripped-back acoustic performances drawn from his solo touring. Originally released in 2011, it brings together material associated with Soundgarden, Audioslave and his solo career, allowing the melodies and vocal phrasing to carry songs normally heard with a much larger band sound.

I Am the Highway, Fell on Black Days and Like a Stone reveal different qualities in this setting, while the covers Thank You and Imagine broaden the programme. The absence of a full rock arrangement draws attention to the writing and to Cornell’s shifts between restraint and intensity.

This red vinyl two-record pressing is the 2020 unofficial edition identified by catalogue FRM1125 and barcode 602527870175. It should be distinguished from the official Friday Music pressing.
