Originally released in 1995, Brown Sugar is the groundbreaking debut album from D'Angelo and one of the defining records of the neo-soul movement. Blending classic soul, R&B, funk, jazz and hip hop influences, the album introduced D'Angelo's unmistakably warm vocals and laid-back grooves while helping shape the sound of contemporary soul for years to come.
