David Bowie – David Bowie (Deluxe Edition Cream & Green Swirl Vinyl 2LP)

David Bowie – David Bowie is the legendary British artist's self-titled debut album, originally released in 1967. Long before Ziggy Stardust, glam rock and his international breakthrough, Bowie was exploring theatrical pop, music hall, psychedelic influences and imaginative storytelling. This 2024 Deluxe Edition is pressed on exclusive cream and green swirl vinyl 2LP.

Originally issued through Deram Records, the album captures a young Bowie developing his distinctive artistic identity. Produced by Mike Vernon, its songs combine whimsical characters, unusual arrangements and distinctly British humour. Although stylistically different from his later work, the record offers a fascinating introduction to the creativity that would define his career.

Uncle Arthur opens with playful storytelling, while Sell Me a Coat and Rubber Band demonstrate Bowie's early melodic instincts. Love You Till Tuesday brings bright, theatrical pop, and There Is a Happy Land explores childhood imagination. The atmospheric We Are Hungry Men and When I Live My Dream reveal his growing ambition as a songwriter.

Side B continues with the character-driven Little Bombardier, the reflective Silly Boy Blue and the playful Join the Gang. She's Got Medals explores identity through theatrical storytelling, while Please Mr. Gravedigger closes the original album with an unsettling spoken-word performance.

The bonus LP collects early singles, alternate recordings and rarities from 1966–1968. Highlights include The London Boys, The Laughing Gnome, Let Me Sleep Beside You, Karma Man and In the Heat of the Morning. The collection concludes with the Love You Till Tuesday version of Space Oddity, an exclusive track for this coloured-vinyl edition.

Spanning 28 recordings, this deluxe release documents Bowie's remarkable development before his rise to international fame. The cream and green swirl pressing makes it a distinctive addition for collectors and fans interested in his formative years.
