David Bowie – Spying Through A Keyhole (Demos And Unreleased Songs) (4 x 7" Vinyl Box Set)

Released in 2019, Spying Through A Keyhole is a fascinating archival collection of early David Bowie recordings from the period when "Space Oddity" was first taking shape. The set brings together nine previously unreleased demos and home recordings, offering a rare glimpse into Bowie's songwriting process at a pivotal point in his career.

Highlights include early versions of "Space Oddity", "In The Heat Of The Morning", "London Bye, Ta-Ta" and "Angel Angel Grubby Face", alongside lesser-known songs such as "Mother Grey", "Goodbye 3D (Threepenny) Joe" and the previously unknown "Love All Around".

Most of the recordings are stripped-back solo vocal and acoustic guitar performances, giving the collection an intimate, unpolished quality that contrasts sharply with the fully produced recordings Bowie would release soon afterwards. The final version of "Space Oddity" in the set features John "Hutch" Hutchinson.

This collectible 4×7" Vinyl Singles Box Set presents all nine recordings in mono at 45RPM. The labels are designed to resemble the handwritten EMIDISC acetates Bowie used when sending demos to publishers and record companies.

Supplied brand new and sealed, it's a compelling archival release for David Bowie fans and collectors of rare demos, early recordings and limited-edition vinyl box sets.
