Death (Detroit) – ...For The Whole World To See (Vinyl LP)

...For the Whole World to See captures the remarkable 1970s recordings of Detroit trio Death, formed by brothers David, Bobby and Dannis Hackney. Inspired by the raw power of The Stooges, MC5, The Who and other hard rock of the era, the brothers moved away from their earlier funk and R&B influences to create a fierce guitar-driven sound that anticipated much of the punk rock that followed.

Recorded decades before its eventual release, the album features Politicians in My Eyes, Keep On Knocking, Rock-N-Roll Victim and Let The World Turn. Fast, direct and remarkably forward-looking, the seven tracks combine distorted guitars, driving rhythms and socially conscious lyrics with the raw energy that has since earned Death recognition as an important early force in American punk.

Death originally released only two of these songs, Politicians in My Eyes and Keep On Knocking, as a self-released single during the 1970s. The remaining recordings went largely unheard until Drag City assembled them for ...For the Whole World to See in 2009, introducing the Hackney brothers' music to a much wider audience more than three decades after it was recorded.

This Vinyl LP edition is the standard Drag City pressing of the album, presenting all seven tracks across two sides on black vinyl.
