Doechii – Alligator Bites Never Heal (1st Anniversary Alligator Skin Picture Disc Vinyl LP)

Doechii – Alligator Bites Never Heal is the acclaimed 2024 mixtape from Florida-born rapper, singer and songwriter Doechii. Combining razor-sharp lyricism, inventive flows, bold production and fearless storytelling, the project established her as one of hip-hop's most exciting contemporary voices. This 2025 first-anniversary edition is pressed on a striking Alligator Skin Picture Disc vinyl LP.

Released through Top Dawg Entertainment and Capitol Records, Alligator Bites Never Heal moves effortlessly between hard-hitting rap, experimental beats, soulful melodies and deeply personal reflections. Across its 19 tracks, Doechii explores ambition, identity, relationships, vulnerability and the pressures of success, balancing technical skill with humour and emotional honesty.

The project opens with Stanka Pooh, immediately showcasing Doechii's commanding delivery and playful wordplay. Bullfrog and Boiled Peanuts continue the unpredictable energy, while the standout Denial Is a River blends theatrical storytelling with sharp observations and rapid-fire verses.

Tracks including Catfish, HIDE N SEEK and DEATH ROLL highlight her ability to switch between contrasting moods and vocal styles. BOOM BAP pays tribute to traditional hip-hop influences, while the explosive NISSAN ALTIMA demonstrates the confidence, rhythm and lyrical dexterity that helped bring Doechii widespread recognition.

Later highlights include GTFO, SLIDE and the atmospheric FIREFLIES. The closing title track, ALLIGATOR BITES NEVER HEAL, provides a powerful conclusion to a project defined by artistic independence and creative ambition.

The mixtape won Best Rap Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards, marking a major milestone in Doechii's career. Its combination of adventurous production and distinctive storytelling has made it an essential modern hip-hop release.
