Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers – Once Upon A Christmas (Vinyl LP)

Once Upon a Christmas brings together country music legends Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers for a heartwarming collection of festive favourites. Originally released in 1984, the album combines their unmistakable voices on I Believe in Santa Claus, With Bells On, Christmas Without You and The Greatest Gift of All, alongside much-loved seasonal standards.

Recorded following the enormous success of their duet Islands in the Stream, the album captures the warmth and chemistry that made Dolly and Kenny one of country music's most beloved partnerships. It also accompanied their television special Kenny & Dolly: A Christmas to Remember, first broadcast in December 1984.

I Believe in Santa Claus opens with a joyful celebration of Christmas magic. Dolly then lends her bright, expressive voice to a lively medley of Winter Wonderland and Sleigh Ride. The playful duet With Bells On brings a romantic country flavour, while Christmas Without You offers a tender reminder of the people who make the season special.

Dolly's rendition of White Christmas closes Side A with timeless charm. Side B begins with A Christmas to Remember, followed by Dolly's poignant solo performance of Hard Candy Christmas. The uplifting duet The Greatest Gift of All celebrates generosity and love, before the gentle title track brings the album to a heartfelt conclusion.

This 2020 Sony Music / Legacy vinyl reissue features the nine-track later edition of the album, including Hard Candy Christmas. Its blend of traditional carols, country duets and original Christmas songs makes it a wonderful record to revisit each festive season.
