Dr. Dre - 2001 Instrumental (Vinyl 2LP)

2001 Instrumentals puts the production behind Dr. Dre's landmark 1999 album 2001 firmly in the spotlight. Stripping away the majority of the original vocal performances, this instrumental edition showcases the layered beats, basslines, keyboards and samples that helped define West Coast hip-hop at the turn of the millennium.

The collection includes instrumental versions of some of Dre's most recognisable productions, including Still D.R.E., Forgot About Dre, The Next Episode, What's The Difference and Xxplosive. Without the full vocal performances, the record offers a different perspective on the production that underpinned the original 2001 album.

The music was produced primarily by Dr. Dre and Mel-Man, with Lord Finesse producing the closing track The Message. Across its four sides, the set highlights the detailed arrangements, carefully selected samples and polished production that became hallmarks of Dre's sound during this period.

This Vinyl 2LP edition was released in 2019 through Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. Pressed on black vinyl, it features 20 instrumental tracks spread across two records, including the beats behind many of the best-known songs from 2001.
