Electric Light Orchestra - Secret Messages (140g Vinyl LP)

Secret Messages is the 1983 studio album from Electric Light Orchestra, written and produced by Jeff Lynne. Arriving as ELO moved deeper into the synthesiser-driven sound of the early 1980s, the album combines electronic textures and polished production with the melodies, harmonies and guitar work that had become hallmarks of the band's sound.

The album features Secret Messages, Four Little Diamonds, Bluebird and Rock 'N' Roll Is King, alongside deeper cuts including Stranger, Train Of Gold and Danger Ahead. This expanded edition also restores material from the original double-album concept, including No Way Out, Endless Lies, Buildings Have Eyes, Mandalay and the eight-minute closing track Hello My Old Friend.

Secret Messages was originally conceived by Jeff Lynne as a double album, but the project was reduced to a single LP before its 1983 release. This expanded version finally brings much of that original concept together, presenting 17 tracks across four sides and offering a more complete picture of the ambitious album Lynne had planned.

This 2018 expanded Vinyl 2LP edition is pressed across two 140g black vinyl records and comes housed in a gatefold sleeve. It presents the expanded 17-track version of Secret Messages, adding six tracks to the running order of the original released album.
