Ford v Ferrari - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Clear Vinyl LP)

Ford v Ferrari (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) brings together an electrifying collection of rock, soul, rhythm and blues, and original film score from the acclaimed 2019 motorsport drama starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale. Directed by James Mangold, the film tells the remarkable true story of automotive designer Carroll Shelby and racing driver Ken Miles as they attempt to build a revolutionary Ford racing car capable of defeating Ferrari at the legendary 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Capturing the excitement, determination and rebellious spirit of the film, this soundtrack combines classic recordings from the 1950s and 1960s with dramatic orchestral compositions. From raw garage rock and soulful ballads to atmospheric cinematic scoring, the collection provides an evocative musical backdrop to one of motorsport's most celebrated rivalries.

The album opens with Polk Salad Annie (Ford v Ferrari Remix), featuring legendary guitarist James Burton. Its gritty guitar work and driving rhythm establish the soundtrack's energetic atmosphere. The Kingsmen's Money (That's What I Want) follows with an infectious early rock-and-roll sound, while The Sonics deliver an explosive performance of Have Love Will Travel, showcasing the raw garage-rock energy that helped influence generations of musicians.

Nina Simone contributes her unforgettable interpretation of I Put a Spell on You, bringing emotional intensity and sophisticated soul arrangements to the collection. French singer Lucky Blondo's Une Fille Comme Toi adds a distinctive European pop influence, while Buck Owens' Love's Gonna Live Here introduces the unmistakable sound of classic American country music. The first side concludes with Stranger in a Strange Land by The Byrds, adding a reflective folk-rock atmosphere.

Side B opens with three original score compositions by Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders. Le Mans 66 captures the tension and drama of endurance racing through powerful orchestral arrangements, while Team Player and Crescent Wrench explore the determination, engineering challenges and personal relationships at the heart of the story.

The soundtrack then returns to vintage rock and roll with Ace of Spades by influential guitarist Link Wray, whose distorted guitar sound helped shape the development of rock music. The Shadows of Knight contribute the garage-rock favourite Dark Side, followed by The Sparkles' energetic Hipsville 29 B.C. (I Need Help).

Flyin Saucers Rock N Roll by Billy Lee Riley delivers another burst of early rockabilly energy before Shooting Star by Les Baxter closes the album with a cinematic instrumental atmosphere.

Released through Hollywood Records, the soundtrack offers an engaging musical journey through the era depicted in Ford v Ferrari. Its combination of influential vintage recordings and original film compositions makes it an appealing addition for fans of classic rock, soundtrack collecting and motorsport history.
