Gary Numan - The Pleasure Principle (Vinyl LP)

The Pleasure Principle is the landmark 1979 album from British electronic music pioneer Gary Numan. His first studio album released under his own name following his work with Tubeway Army, it established Numan as an international solo artist and helped bring synthesiser-driven new wave into the mainstream with its stark, futuristic sound.

The album features Numan's signature hit Cars, alongside Complex, Metal, Films and M.E.. Remarkably, the record was created without conventional guitars, instead building its distinctive sound around analogue synthesisers, bass, drums, percussion and occasional viola. The combination gave The Pleasure Principle a mechanical yet melodic character that remains instantly recognisable.

Produced by Gary Numan and featuring Paul Gardiner on bass, Cedric Sharpley on drums and percussion, and Christopher Payne on keyboards and viola, The Pleasure Principle became one of the defining electronic albums of its era. Its influence can be heard across synth-pop, industrial, electronic and alternative music, while Cars remains one of Numan's best-known recordings.

This Vinyl LP is the 2015 Beggars Banquet reissue, pressed on standard black vinyl. The album was cut from high-resolution 96kHz/24-bit transfers of the analogue master tapes by John Dent at Loud Mastering and presents the original 10-track album across two sides.
