Genesis Owusu – Struggler (Clear Vinyl LP)

STRUGGLER is the second studio album from Ghanaian-Australian artist Genesis Owusu, released in 2023. Following his acclaimed debut Smiling With No Teeth, Owusu turns his attention to survival, perseverance and the absurdity of life, creating a restless album that moves freely between hip-hop, punk, funk, alternative rock and experimental pop.

The album opens with the urgent Leaving The Light and features The Roach, Freak Boy, Tied Up! and Stay Blessed. Across 11 tracks, Owusu explores what it means to keep moving when there are no obvious answers, using the image of the seemingly indestructible roach as a recurring symbol of resilience and survival.

STRUGGLER was recorded between Australia and the United States with a diverse group of producers and collaborators including Jason Evigan, Mikey Freedom Hart, Sol Was, Andrew Klippel and Dave Hammer. Literary influences including Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot and Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis helped shape the album's exploration of chaos, endurance and finding meaning within the struggle.

This Clear Vinyl LP is the Indie Exclusive coloured vinyl edition of the album, featuring the complete 11-track running order on a single LP.
