Dekadance is a rare remix collection from legendary Australian rock band INXS, originally released in 1984 to celebrate the success of their breakthrough fourth studio album, The Swing. Bringing together extended versions, alternative mixes and a special bonus recording, Dekadance captures the band's exciting transition from Australian new wave favourites to international rock stars. With its combination of funk-driven basslines, infectious rhythms, synthesiser textures and Michael Hutchence's charismatic vocals, the collection offers a fascinating alternative perspective on one of INXS's most important creative periods.

Following the success of The Swing, which spent five weeks at number one on the Australian albums chart, INXS released Dekadance as a special cassette collection featuring six different covers, each highlighting a member of the band. The original release became a sought-after collector's item, particularly as the band's international popularity continued to grow throughout the 1980s.

The collection opens with an extended version of Original Sin, the groundbreaking single produced by Nile Rodgers that helped establish INXS internationally. Its irresistible combination of funk, rock and dance rhythms remains one of the band's defining recordings. I Send a Message follows with an energetic remix that emphasises the song's sharp guitar work, prominent bassline and dynamic percussion.

Burn for You receives an extended treatment that allows its atmospheric synthesisers and distinctive rhythms to develop, while Dancing on the Jetty showcases the band's ability to blend melodic new wave with dance-oriented production. Together, these recordings highlight the adventurous arrangements and production techniques that made The Swing such a significant album in the INXS catalogue.

Side B features alternative versions of Melting in the Sun and Love Is (What I Say), offering further insight into the band's experimentation with extended arrangements and studio remixing. The collection concludes with Jackson, a cover of the song famously recorded by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood. This distinctive recording features Jenny Morris sharing lead vocals with Michael Hutchence, adding a memorable bonus track to the collection.

Originally available commercially on cassette, Dekadance also existed as an extremely limited promotional vinyl release during the 1980s. Its wider official vinyl reissue in 2019 marked the 35th anniversary of The Swing, giving collectors another opportunity to experience these recordings on LP.

This limited-edition 180g heavyweight vinyl LP presents all seven tracks across two sides, with artwork inspired by the rare original promotional release.
