Jodeci – Diary Of A Mad Band (Limited Edition Translucent Tan Vinyl LP)

Diary of a Mad Band is the second studio album from legendary American R&B group Jodeci, originally released in 1993. Following the enormous success of their debut album Forever My Lady, the quartet returned with a darker, more mature and distinctly hip-hop-influenced sound. Combining powerful vocal harmonies, seductive slow jams and hard-hitting new jack swing production, the album helped redefine contemporary R&B during the 1990s.

The 12-track album features some of Jodeci's most celebrated recordings, including the timeless ballads Cry for You and Feenin', alongside the soulful opening track My Heart Belongs to U. Further highlights include What About Us, Ride & Slide, Alone and Jodecidal Hotline. The album also features appearances from hip-hop and R&B artists including Redman, Missy Elliott and Timbaland.

Led by the distinctive production and musical vision of DeVante Swing, Jodeci developed a sound that combined traditional soul influences with contemporary hip-hop rhythms, atmospheric keyboards and deeply expressive vocals. The remarkable harmonies of K-Ci, JoJo, DeVante Swing and Mr. Dalvin remain central to the album's appeal, balancing raw emotion with sophisticated arrangements and unmistakable swagger.

Diary of a Mad Band became a major commercial success, reaching number one on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and further establishing Jodeci as one of the most influential R&B groups of their generation. The album's fusion of romantic balladry, streetwise production and powerful vocal performances helped shape the direction of contemporary R&B, influencing countless artists who followed.

Celebrating the album's 30th anniversary, this official 2023 Limited Edition reissue presents the original 12-track album on a single translucent tan vinyl LP. Released through Geffen Records / Motown, this special coloured vinyl pressing retains the original album tracklist and offers collectors a distinctive edition of an essential 1990s R&B classic.
