Kylie Minogue – Light Years (Vinyl 2LP)

Originally released in 2000, Light Years is the seventh studio album from Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue and one of the defining records of her career. Marking her return to mainstream pop following the more experimental direction of Impossible Princess, the album embraced disco, dance-pop and Europop with a renewed sense of confidence and fun. Released through Parlophone, Light Years introduced a glamorous, dancefloor-ready sound that would help shape Kylie's hugely successful musical direction throughout the 2000s.

The album opens with the irresistible Spinning Around, the comeback single that returned Kylie to number one on the UK Singles Chart and introduced a new era of disco-inspired pop. On a Night Like This follows with soaring melodies and energetic electronic production, while So Now Goodbye and Disco Down continue the album's celebration of infectious rhythms and polished pop songwriting. Loveboat and Koocachoo add playful character, while the theatrical Your Disco Needs You has become an enduring fan favourite.

Elsewhere, Please Stay combines Latin-influenced rhythms with Kylie's distinctive vocal delivery, while Bittersweet Goodbye offers a more intimate moment amid the album's exuberant production. Butterfly, Under the Influence of Love and I'm So High continue its disco and dance-pop influences. The album also features Kids, Kylie's celebrated duet with Robbie Williams, before closing with the futuristic title track Light Years, a fitting finale to the record's playful musical journey.

Created with a range of acclaimed producers and songwriters, including Mike Spencer, Steve Anderson, Guy Chambers and Robbie Williams, Light Years draws inspiration from classic disco, European dance music and the sophisticated pop production of the late 1990s. The album reached number one on the Australian Albums Chart and helped re-establish Kylie as one of the world's leading pop performers. Its combination of memorable singles, colourful arrangements and confident songwriting remains an important chapter in her extensive catalogue.

This 2026 double vinyl reissue presents Light Years on black vinyl 2LP through Parlophone Records, housed in a gatefold sleeve. Featuring fourteen tracks across four sides, it offers a welcome opportunity to own one of Kylie's most celebrated dance-pop albums on vinyl.
