Lizzy McAlpine – Angel (Limited Edition Maiden Fair Vinyl 2LP)

Lizzy McAlpine – Angel (Limited Edition Maiden Fair Vinyl 2LP) is the fourth studio album from acclaimed American singer-songwriter Lizzy McAlpine. Released in September 2026, Angel presents fourteen deeply personal songs that blend intimate indie folk, alternative pop and richly textured acoustic arrangements. Featuring The Light in the Painting, Ugly Things and Soldier of the Road with Fleet Foxes, the album showcases McAlpine's remarkable ability to turn complex emotions into beautifully crafted music.

Following the success of Five Seconds Flat and Older, McAlpine continues to develop the distinctive songwriting style that has earned her an international following. Known for her expressive vocals, intricate melodies and emotionally honest lyrics, she draws inspiration from classic singer-songwriters while creating music that feels distinctly contemporary.

Produced by Lizzy McAlpine, Mason Stoops and Taylor Mackall, Angel expands her musical palette with warm instrumentation, carefully layered arrangements and a more expansive sound. The album combines elements of folk, indie rock and alternative pop, balancing quiet moments of reflection with fuller, more dynamic performances.

At its heart, Angel explores love, heartbreak, personal growth and the importance of friendship and human connection. Throughout the record, McAlpine reflects on changing relationships and the process of understanding herself, delivering songs that feel both deeply individual and universally relatable.

Opening track The Light in the Painting introduces the album's thoughtful atmosphere, pairing McAlpine's distinctive voice with expressive songwriting. Anybody's Fool continues the emotional journey, while A Car Wash and a New Pair of Pants demonstrates her talent for finding meaning in everyday experiences and small personal details.

I Have a Friend explores the importance of connection and companionship, while The Moon introduces a dreamlike quality through its evocative imagery and intimate storytelling. Ugly Things adds another emotional dimension, highlighting McAlpine's willingness to confront difficult feelings with honesty and sensitivity.

One of the album's notable collaborations is Soldier of the Road, featuring American indie folk band Fleet Foxes. Bringing together two distinctive voices in contemporary folk music, the song reflects the album's emphasis on organic arrangements and emotionally expressive performances.

The album continues with Peach and Over Country, exploring new melodic and lyrical territory while retaining McAlpine's unmistakable songwriting identity. Two Elevens and Our Strange Ways further develop the record's reflective atmosphere, combining detailed storytelling with subtle musical textures.

As the album approaches its conclusion, Mason's Song offers another intimate moment, followed by The Crowd. The closing title track, Angel, provides a fitting conclusion to a collection centred on vulnerability, emotional resilience and personal transformation.

Across fourteen tracks, Angel captures an artist continuing to evolve creatively while remaining true to the qualities that first connected her with listeners. Its combination of sophisticated arrangements, expressive vocals and emotionally direct songwriting makes it a compelling addition to McAlpine's growing catalogue.

This special Limited Edition Maiden Fair Vinyl 2LP presents the complete album across two 140g opaque cream-white vinyl records. An indie-exclusive pressing, the Maiden Fair edition offers a distinctive alternative to the standard Looking Glass vinyl release.
