MC5 - Heavy Lifting (Limited Edition Vinyl 2LP)

Heavy Lifting is the final studio album from Detroit proto-punk pioneers MC5, released in 2024 more than five decades after 1971's High Time. Led by founding guitarist Wayne Kramer and produced by legendary producer Bob Ezrin, the album brings MC5's politically charged, high-energy rock sound into the modern era while retaining the confrontational spirit that made the band so influential.

The album features Heavy Lifting with Tom Morello, The Edge Of The Switchblade with William DuVall and Slash, and Black Boots featuring Tim McIlrath. Original MC5 drummer Dennis "Machine Gun" Thompson appears on Blind Eye and Can't Be Found, with Vernon Reid also appearing on the latter. Other guests across the record include Don Was and Joe Berry.

Heavy Lifting was produced by Bob Ezrin and built around recordings led by Wayne Kramer before his death in February 2024. Thompson also died before the album's release, making the record a final chapter for two of MC5's original members. The finished album arrived the same year MC5 were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

This Limited Edition Vinyl 2LP is pressed on 180g black vinyl and presented in a gatefold sleeve. LP1 contains the complete 13-track Heavy Lifting studio album, while LP2 adds 10 previously unreleased live recordings from the band's 2018 MC50 Tour, including Kick Out The Jams, Ramblin' Rose, Motor City Is Burning and Shakin' Street.
