Originally released in 1984, Red Sails In The Sunset is the fifth studio album from Midnight Oil and one of the most adventurous records in the band's catalogue. Combining driving rock with new wave, post-punk and experimental elements, the album captures the Oils at their politically charged and musically ambitious best.

Featuring standout tracks including "Best Of Both Worlds", "When The Generals Talk", "Kosciusko" and "Minutes To Midnight", the album tackles themes of nuclear conflict, environmental destruction, politics and social responsibility. Its striking cover artwork by Japanese artist Tsunehisa Kimura, depicting a devastated Sydney Harbour, remains one of the most recognisable images in Australian rock.

Recorded at Victor Aoyama Studio in Tokyo and produced by Nick Launay and Midnight Oil, Red Sails In The Sunset expanded the band's sound with synthesizers, orchestral arrangements and unconventional instrumentation while retaining the urgency and intensity that defined their earlier work. The album became Midnight Oil's first Australian number one album.

This remastered Vinyl LP reissue presents the complete 12-track album across two sides of black vinyl, offering a fresh pressing of an essential Australian rock record.
