Midnight Oil - The Makarrata Project (Limited Edition Yellow Vinyl LP)

The Makarrata Project is a seven-track mini-album from Australian rock legends Midnight Oil, released in 2020 after nearly two decades without a new long-form studio release. Created in collaboration with First Nations artists, the project centres on themes of Indigenous reconciliation, recognition and the ideas expressed in the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

The album opens with First Nation featuring Jessica Mauboy and Tasman Keith, followed by Gadigal Land with Dan Sultan, Joel Davison, Kaleena Briggs and Bunna Lawrie. Other collaborators include Gurrumul Yunupingu, Alice Skye, Frank Yamma, Kev Carmody, Sammy Butcher and Troy Cassar-Daley.

The Makarrata Project was produced by longtime Midnight Oil collaborator Warne Livesey, whose work with the band includes Diesel And Dust, Blue Sky Mining and Capricornia. The closing piece combines a reading of the Uluru Statement From The Heart by Pat Anderson, Stan Grant, Adam Goodes, Ursula Yovich and Troy Cassar-Daley with Come On Down featuring Cassar-Daley. Midnight Oil committed its share of proceeds from the project to organisations supporting the Uluru Statement From The Heart.

This Limited Edition Vinyl LP is pressed on distinctive opaque yellow vinyl and features the complete seven-track Makarrata Project across two sides.
