Mort Garson - Mother Earth's Plantasia (Vinyl LP)

Mother Earth's Plantasia is the cult electronic album from Canadian composer and synthesizer pioneer Mort Garson, originally released in 1976. Subtitled Warm Earth Music for Plants... and the People Who Love Them, the record was created using the Moog synthesizer and conceived as a collection of music designed for plants and their owners.

The album features Plantasia, Symphony for a Spider Plant, Baby's Tears Blues and Rhapsody in Green. Across its 10 instrumental pieces, Garson combines warm analogue synthesizers, playful melodies and imaginative arrangements, with each composition inspired by a different plant or aspect of indoor gardening.

Originally distributed in unusually limited circumstances, including as a promotional record for customers of the Mother Earth plant shop in Los Angeles, Mother Earth's Plantasia gradually developed a cult following. Its rediscovery introduced Garson's distinctive electronic compositions to a new audience, and the album is now regarded as an enduring example of early synthesizer music.

This Vinyl LP is the 2019 authorised reissue from Sacred Bones Records, pressed on standard black vinyl. It includes a reproduction of the original Mother Earth's Indoor Plant Care Booklet by Lynn and Joel Rapp, along with a seed-paper download card that can be planted.
