New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies (Vinyl LP)

Power, Corruption & Lies is the second studio album from New Order, originally released in 1983. A landmark record in the evolution of post-punk and electronic music, the album saw the band move beyond the shadow of Joy Division and develop the distinctive combination of guitars, synthesizers, sequencers and dance rhythms that would define their sound.

The eight-track album opens with the enduring Age Of Consent and includes New Order favourites Your Silent Face, The Village, 5 8 6 and Leave Me Alone. Across the record, Peter Hook's melodic bass, Bernard Sumner's understated vocals and guitar, Gillian Gilbert's keyboards and Stephen Morris' precise drumming combine with increasingly adventurous electronic production.

Recorded at Britannia Row Studios in London and produced by New Order themselves, Power, Corruption & Lies marked a crucial step in the band's transformation from post-punk into one of the most influential electronic groups of the 1980s. Its fusion of melancholic songwriting with synthesizers and club-influenced rhythms helped establish the musical direction New Order would continue to explore throughout the decade.

This 2025 vinyl reissue features the acclaimed 2020 remaster, previously available on vinyl as part of the Power, Corruption & Lies Definitive Edition box set, and presents the original eight-track album on black vinyl.
