Pixies - Bossanova (180g Vinyl LP)

Originally released in 1990, Bossanova is the third studio album from Pixies and a record that pushed the band's distinctive alternative rock sound into more atmospheric and psychedelic territory. Drawing heavily on surf rock, science fiction and space-themed imagery, the album marked another adventurous step forward following Surfer Rosa and Doolittle.

Featuring Pixies favourites including "Velouria", "Dig for Fire", "Allison" and "Is She Weird", Bossanova combines Black Francis' surreal songwriting with Joey Santiago's inventive guitar work, Kim Deal's bass and David Lovering's powerful drumming.

Produced by Gil Norton, who had previously worked with the band on Doolittle, the album ranges from the surf-rock instrumental "Cecilia Ann" through the driving guitars of "Rock Music" and "The Happening" to the dreamy closing track "Havalina". Its distinctive blend of melody, noise and otherworldly atmosphere has made it an enduring part of the Pixies catalogue.

This 180g Vinyl LP edition presents the original 14-track album on heavyweight black vinyl through 4AD.
