Originally released in 2000, Black Market Music is the third studio album from Placebo and a defining release from the band's early career. Following the breakthrough success of Without You I'm Nothing, the album pushed Brian Molko, Stefan Olsdal and Steve Hewitt into heavier and more experimental territory while retaining the dark melodies and distinctive vocals at the heart of Placebo's sound.

Featuring fan favourites including "Taste in Men", "Special K", "Slave to the Wage" and "Black-Eyed", the album blends alternative rock with elements of glam, punk and electronic music. Its combination of abrasive guitars, atmospheric production and memorable hooks helped cement Placebo as one of the most distinctive alternative bands of the era.
