Public Enemy – Yo! Bum Rush The Show (Hip-Hop 50th Anniversary Fruit Punch Vinyl LP)

Yo! Bum Rush The Show is the debut studio album from Public Enemy, originally released in 1987. Raw, confrontational and hugely influential, the album introduced the group's uncompromising combination of politically charged lyrics, dense sampling and hard-hitting production, establishing Public Enemy as one of the most important voices to emerge from hip-hop's formative years.

The 12-track album features early Public Enemy classics You're Gonna Get Yours, Public Enemy No. 1 and Miuzi Weighs A Ton, alongside Rightstarter (Message To A Black Man), Raise The Roof and the title track Yo! Bum Rush The Show.

Driven by Chuck D's commanding delivery, Flavor Flav's distinctive presence and the sample-heavy production associated with the Bomb Squad, Yo! Bum Rush The Show laid the foundations for the revolutionary sound Public Enemy would develop further on albums including It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back and Fear Of A Black Planet.

This Hip-Hop 50th Anniversary Edition was released by Def Jam Recordings in 2023 as part of its celebration of 50 years of hip-hop. The complete original 12-track album is pressed on distinctive Fruit Punch coloured vinyl, with individual copies varying slightly in appearance due to the nature of the coloured pressing.
