Queens Of The Stone Age – In Times New Roman... (180g Vinyl 2LP)

In Times New Roman... is the eighth studio album from Queens of the Stone Age, released in 2023 on Matador Records. Darkly funny, restless and packed with snarling guitar riffs, it marks the band's return after 2017's Villains. This vinyl double LP presents the album in a gatefold sleeve.

Led by singer, guitarist and songwriter Josh Homme, the group recorded the album at Pink Duck and Shangri-La studios, with additional sessions elsewhere. Produced by the band and mixed by Mark Rankin, the record combines the muscular grooves and unusual guitar textures that define Queens of the Stone Age with a more exposed, sometimes unsettling lyrical edge.

Obscenery opens with theatrical swagger, followed by the razor-sharp riffs of Paper Machete and the propulsive Negative Space. Time & Place locks into a hypnotic rhythm, while Made to Parade gradually builds from menace to release.

The singles Emotion Sickness and Carnavoyeur show two sides of the album: the former blends biting verses with an unexpectedly melodic chorus, while the latter brings a darker, cinematic atmosphere. What the Peephole Say offers jittery energy, and Sicily leans into a heavy, slow-burning groove.

Closing epic Straight Jacket Fitting brings the album's themes together in a dramatic finale. The double-LP sequence also includes an unlisted instrumental reprise on its final side. With artwork by Boneface, In Times New Roman... is a compelling addition to any alternative or stoner rock collection.
