Rod Stewart – Merry Christmas, Baby (Anniversary Edition Vinyl 2LP)

Rod Stewart – Merry Christmas, Baby brings the legendary British singer's unmistakable raspy voice to a collection of festive favourites. Originally released in 2012, the album blends traditional Christmas standards, jazz-influenced arrangements and warm orchestral pop. This 2024 Anniversary Edition presents the seasonal collection on double vinyl LP.

Working with acclaimed producer David Foster, Stewart delivers relaxed, expressive interpretations of songs that have become essential listening during the Christmas season. Rich strings, elegant piano, brass and gentle swing rhythms provide the perfect setting for his distinctive vocals, while an impressive selection of guest performers adds variety throughout.

The album opens with the timeless Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, followed by a lively rendition of Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. Canadian crooner Michael Bublé joins Stewart on Winter Wonderland, creating a charming duet that captures the spirit of a classic holiday recording. White Christmas continues the nostalgic atmosphere.

The title track, Merry Christmas, Baby, features CeeLo Green and Trombone Shorty, bringing blues and New Orleans-inspired energy to the collection. Saxophonist Dave Koz contributes to Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!, while What Are You Doing New Year's Eve? features a remarkable collaboration with the legendary Ella Fitzgerald and trumpeter Chris Botti.

Other highlights include Stewart's intimate interpretation of Blue Christmas and the playful original composition Red-Suited Super Man. When You Wish Upon a Star offers a beautifully melodic moment, while We Three Kings, featuring Mary J. Blige, adds a soulful contemporary touch.

The gentle Silent Night and celebratory Auld Lang Syne complete a festive programme that balances warmth, nostalgia and musical sophistication. Whether accompanying a family gathering or a quiet evening at home, Merry Christmas, Baby offers a welcoming soundtrack for the holiday season.
