Originally released in 1996, Down On The Upside is the fifth studio album from Soundgarden and one of the most adventurous releases of the band's career. Following the enormous success of Superunknown, the Seattle group pushed beyond their grunge and alternative metal roots, incorporating more melodic, experimental and atmospheric elements into their unmistakably heavy sound.

Featuring Soundgarden classics including "Pretty Noose", "Burden In My Hand", "Blow Up The Outside World" and "Ty Cobb", the album showcases Chris Cornell's extraordinary vocals alongside Kim Thayil's distinctive guitar work, Ben Shepherd's bass and Matt Cameron's powerful drumming.

Down On The Upside debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and became another major success for the band. "Pretty Noose" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance, while "Burden In My Hand" and "Blow Up The Outside World" both reached No. 1 on the US Mainstream Rock chart. It would ultimately be Soundgarden's final studio album before their initial breakup in 1997.

This 180g Remastered Vinyl 2LP edition was released for the album's 20th anniversary in 2016. Newly remastered from the original analogue tapes by Bob Ludwig, it presents the complete 16-track album across four sides of heavyweight black vinyl with the original artwork.
