Steely Dan – Can't Buy A Thrill (180g Vinyl LP)

Originally released in 1972, Can't Buy A Thrill is the debut studio album from Steely Dan and the beginning of one of the most distinctive catalogues in rock music. Led by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, the album blends rock, jazz, pop and soul with sophisticated arrangements, razor-sharp musicianship and the clever, cryptic songwriting that would become the band's trademark.

Featuring the classics "Do It Again", "Reelin' In The Years" and "Dirty Work", the album established Steely Dan as a major force from the outset. Deeper favourites including "Only A Fool Would Say That", "Fire In The Hole" and "Turn That Heartbeat Over Again" showcase the depth and variety of a remarkably accomplished debut.

Produced by longtime collaborator Gary Katz, Can't Buy A Thrill features an impressive cast of musicians alongside Becker and Fagen, including guitarists Denny Dias, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and Elliott Randall. David Palmer and drummer Jim Hodder also take lead vocals on selected tracks, reflecting the broader band approach of Steely Dan's earliest recordings.

This 180g Vinyl LP reissue was released in celebration of the album's 50th anniversary. Newly remastered by Bernie Grundman, with lacquers cut by Alex Abrash from Grundman's masters, the album is pressed on heavyweight black vinyl and presents the complete original 10-track recording.
