Temple Of The Dog is the only studio album by the Seattle rock supergroup Temple Of The Dog, originally released on 16 April 1991. Created by Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell as a tribute to his friend Andrew Wood, the late singer of Mother Love Bone, the album brings together musicians who would become central figures in the grunge movement. Featuring the classics Hunger Strike, Say Hello 2 Heaven, Reach Down and Call Me a Dog, it remains one of the most emotionally powerful releases of the early 1990s.

The project began following Wood's death in 1990, when Cornell started writing songs to honour his friend's memory. He was joined by former Mother Love Bone members Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, alongside guitarist Mike McCready and Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron. Future Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder also contributed vocals, making the album a remarkable meeting point between two of Seattle's most influential bands.

Opening track Say Hello 2 Heaven is a deeply moving tribute to Wood, showcasing Cornell's extraordinary vocal range and heartfelt songwriting. The expansive Reach Down follows with heavy guitar riffs, blues-inspired arrangements and an extended instrumental passage that highlights the musicians' chemistry.

The album's best-known song, Hunger Strike, features an unforgettable vocal duet between Cornell and Vedder. Built around a memorable guitar melody and contrasting vocal performances, it became a defining anthem of the Seattle rock scene. Pushin Forward Back brings a heavier, rhythm-driven sound, while Call Me a Dog combines intimate songwriting with Cornell's soaring vocals.

The second side continues with the reflective Times of Trouble, whose instrumental foundation was also developed into Pearl Jam's Footsteps. Wooden Jesus explores themes of faith and disillusionment, while Your Saviour delivers muscular alternative rock. The haunting Four Walled World and atmospheric closing track All Night Thing complete an album that balances grief, friendship and musical expression.

Produced by Rick Parashar and Temple Of The Dog, the album initially received modest attention before finding a much larger audience following the international success of Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Today, it is regarded as an essential recording of the grunge era, capturing a unique collaboration between musicians at a pivotal moment in alternative rock history.

This Vinyl LP edition presents the complete original 10-track album on a single record. Released through A&M Records / Universal Music, it is an essential addition for collectors of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell and classic Seattle grunge.
