The Beatles – 1962–1966 (The Red Album) (180g Half-Speed Remastered Vinyl 3LP)

1962–1966 (The Red Album) is the landmark greatest hits compilation celebrating the extraordinary early career of The Beatles. Originally released in 1973, the collection brings together some of the most influential and beloved recordings in popular music, tracing the band's remarkable evolution from their early rock 'n' roll beginnings to the increasingly sophisticated songwriting and studio experimentation of the mid-1960s.

Featuring timeless classics including Love Me Do, Please Please Me, She Loves You, I Want to Hold Your Hand, A Hard Day's Night, Help!, Yesterday, Norwegian Wood and Eleanor Rigby, the collection showcases the incredible songwriting partnership of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, alongside the growing musical contributions of George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Originally issued as a double album, The Red Album became one of the most enduring introductions to The Beatles' catalogue. From the infectious energy of their earliest singles to the sophisticated arrangements of Rubber Soul and Revolver, these recordings capture a period of extraordinary musical creativity that transformed popular culture and helped redefine the possibilities of modern recording.

Released in 2023 to celebrate the compilation's 50th anniversary, this expanded edition adds 12 tracks to the original 26-song collection, bringing the total to 38 recordings. The additional material includes I Saw Her Standing There, Twist and Shout, This Boy, Roll Over Beethoven, If I Needed Someone, Taxman, Here, There and Everywhere and Tomorrow Never Knows. All 12 additional songs are collected together on the third LP.

The 2023 edition features 30 newly created stereo mixes, alongside selected 2022 mixes, using modern audio restoration and remixing techniques to bring fresh clarity and detail to these historic recordings. The expanded collection offers a compelling listening experience for longtime Beatles fans while providing an outstanding introduction to one of the most important bands in music history.

This official 2023 Apple Records / Universal Music edition is pressed across three heavyweight 180g black vinyl LPs, using half-speed mastering for the vinyl release. Housed in a gatefold sleeve, the collection also includes an insert featuring new liner notes by music journalist and author John Harris, providing additional context to the band's remarkable early recording career.
