The Cranberries - To The Faithful Departed (Deluxe Vinyl 2LP)

To the Faithful Departed is the third studio album from Irish alternative rock band The Cranberries, originally released in 1996. Following the enormous international success of Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? and No Need to Argue, the band returned with a more powerful, guitar-driven sound, combining emotionally charged songwriting with the unmistakable vocals of Dolores O'Riordan.

The album features some of The Cranberries' most memorable songs, including Salvation, When You're Gone, Free to Decide and Hollywood. Further highlights include Electric Blue, Forever Yellow Skies, I'm Still Remembering and Just Shot John Lennon, showcasing the band's ability to move between explosive alternative rock and beautifully atmospheric melodies.

Produced by acclaimed Canadian producer Bruce Fairbairn, known for his work with Aerosmith and Bon Jovi, To the Faithful Departed marked a shift towards a bigger, more immediate rock sound. The album features Dolores O'Riordan on vocals, Noel Hogan on guitar, Mike Hogan on bass and Fergal Lawler on drums, with powerful arrangements that highlight the band's chemistry and musical confidence.

Lyrically, the album explores themes of loss, conflict, political unrest and personal reflection. Songs such as War Child and Bosnia address the human consequences of violence, while When You're Gone and Joe reveal the band's more intimate and emotional side. The album became The Cranberries' highest-charting release in the United States and remains an important part of their celebrated 1990s catalogue.

This official 2023 Deluxe Remastered Edition presents the album across two black vinyl LPs, with the original recordings remastered by John Dent at Metropolis Studios. The expanded 20-track collection includes the additional songs The Picture I View and Go Your Own Way, along with three previously unreleased Paris demos recorded with producer Tim Palmer.

Housed in a gatefold sleeve, this deluxe edition also features expanded liner notes by Cranberries archivist Eoin Devereux, offering further insight into the making of the album and its place in the band's history.
