The Cure – Songs of a Lost World (180g Half-Speed Mastered Bio Vinyl 2LP)

Songs of a Lost World is the fourteenth studio album from The Cure, released in 2024 after a sixteen-year gap following 4:13 Dream. Dark, atmospheric and deeply emotional, it finds Robert Smith reflecting on loss, mortality, memory and the passage of time. This special edition is pressed across two 180g biovinyl LPs, half-speed mastered at Abbey Road Studios.

Combining the expansive soundscapes of Disintegration and Bloodflowers with the band's distinctive gothic rock sound, the album unfolds through eight carefully crafted songs. Layers of shimmering guitars, sweeping keyboards, powerful bass and deliberate percussion create a rich backdrop for Smith's unmistakable voice and introspective lyrics.

Opening track Alone sets the mood with an extended instrumental introduction before Smith's haunting vocals emerge. And Nothing Is Forever follows with an aching, orchestral atmosphere, while A Fragile Thing balances melodic beauty with emotional vulnerability. The darker Warsong and driving Drone:Nodrone introduce tension and urgency.

The second half includes the deeply personal I Can Never Say Goodbye, written in response to the death of Smith's brother, and the reflective All I Ever Am. Closing track Endsong stretches beyond ten minutes, building from an atmospheric instrumental passage into a powerful meditation on isolation and the passing of time.

Widely acclaimed as a remarkable late-career achievement, Songs of a Lost World demonstrates The Cure's ability to create music that feels both timeless and intensely personal. Its immersive production rewards attentive listening, making it particularly well suited to the vinyl format.

This half-speed mastered edition is presented on two heavyweight 180g black biovinyl LPs in a gatefold sleeve with poster. The eight tracks are spread across four sides, with the final side devoted entirely to Endsong.
