The Smashing Pumpkins - Adore (180g Vinyl 2LP)

Adore is the fourth studio album from The Smashing Pumpkins, originally released in 1998 as the follow-up to the hugely successful Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Rather than repeating the scale and guitar-heavy attack of its predecessor, Billy Corgan and the band moved into darker, more intimate territory, combining alternative rock with acoustic textures, electronic rhythms and atmospheric production.

The 16-track album features Ava Adore, Perfect, To Sheila and Daphne Descends, alongside deeper cuts including Tear, Crestfallen, Pug and the expansive For Martha. Its shift towards electronic elements and a more subdued sound makes Adore one of the most distinctive albums in the Smashing Pumpkins catalogue.

Recorded during a major transitional period following the departure of drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, Adore moved away from the dense guitar sound that had defined the band's earlier records. Its combination of programmed rhythms, piano, acoustic instrumentation and layered production gives the album an identity quite unlike Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

This 2014 remastered edition presents the complete album across two 180g black vinyl LPs. Remastered from the original master tapes and mastered for vinyl by Stan Getz, this edition spreads Adore across four sides of vinyl for the first time and comes housed in a gatefold sleeve.
