The Cardigans – The Rest Of The Best Vol. 2 (Vinyl 2LP)

The Rest of the Best Vol. 2 brings together sixteen rare and lesser-known recordings by Swedish alternative pop favourites The Cardigans. Released in 2024, this companion to Vol. 1 collects B-sides, soundtrack contributions and bonus tracks originally scattered across international editions and singles between 1994 and 2006.

Known for the worldwide success of Lovefool, My Favourite Game and Erase/Rewind, The Cardigans built a catalogue that moved from breezy indie pop towards darker, guitar-driven alternative rock. Led by Nina Persson's distinctive vocals, the band brought the same melodic imagination to recordings that never appeared on their main studio albums.

This second volume opens with War, Deuce and their version of Kraftwerk's Das Model, followed by intimate Polar Session performances of For What It's Worth and Communication. These alternate recordings reveal different textures and moods in familiar songs.

Across the remaining sides, If There Is a Chance, two versions of Hold Me and The Road sit alongside a Sandkvie Session recording and early demo of You're the Storm. The collection closes with For the Boys, (If You Were) Less Like Me, Slowdown Town, Give Me Your Eyes and Slow, making it a rewarding listen for fans exploring beyond the hits.

Compiled by The Cardigans and remastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, this edition is pressed on two 140g black vinyl LPs. Its artwork draws on photographs by longtime band collaborator Martin Bogren.
